Game Option Problems 1 out of 5

This seems like it would have been good, but For some reason it seems I can not complete the tutorial. It keeps telling me items I need to do are not available at this time???????????? The free form game isn't even working, so I cant really play. Very disappointed!

Game eventually refusses to load screens 4 out of 5

Absolutely fun and histaricle game . . . best in the series. Unfortunately I can't finish it because it's chosen alotment of memory is too small to load itself after a certian point. SHAME.

Great sim game 5 out of 5

All the "Westward" Games from Sandlot are great! This is no exception. Many hours of fun & play. Make a western town thrive through various tribulations- bandits, earthquakes, drought. Find gold deposits & make mines, build farms & ranches to feed your town, complete various "quests" to earn experience & gold, all in real time. Graphics very good. Worth the money. Works well on my vista pc.

Entertaining - but frustrating at times 3 out of 5

While the concept is great the gameplay is often frustrating. Four reasons:

It takes a long time to collect resources which you need to build things. You'll spend the first half hour of most scenarios waiting to get enough resources to build something new.

Buildings must generally be built in a certain order. Once you know how to speed up (relative) resource gain you'll be building the same things in the same order over and over again. Scenarios follow generally the same format with minor tweaks

Hidden items and quests to unlock stuff. I can only recommend you do a search for the walkthrough so you know what on earth to do sometimes. Without it I'd not have unlocked any of the special items.

The 'combat' is fairly pathetic - there's no strategy to it other than let your hero go first so he gets everyone shooting at him before your possie kill the rest. Your hero comes back to life after he dies so no biggie.

Overall probably worth $6 to kill a few hours but don't expect much here. Scenarios took me probably 10 hours to complete....sandbox mode I don't think I can take right now or I'll be looking for a bridge to jump off.

Good Game 4 out of 5

I don't usually play this type of game so I can't compare to many others. I enjoy playing, it's addicting. When I start playing, I end up playing for hours. It takes that long to get some things done. But you can also save the game at any point and come back to it later. There is a lot going on that you have to keep in mind. Lots of strategy involved. Lots of new quests to accomplish. Lots of incentive to keep going. The challenges get more difficult so you're always being pushed to do better. There is a sandbox area to learn and try different strategies.

My complaints are I would like to be able to quickly and easily find characters, both by name and type. It's easy to lose someone. I also wish the homes gave the names of the characters living in them, that would help with some strategy. Other complaint is it uses so much system resources that sometimes it won't even turn off. I always have to reboot after. I'm using windows xp.

Overall a very good game. I paid a lot more for the only other similar game I've bought and it was nowhere near as complex.
